Copper Sinks and Copper Bath Tubs
Fine Crafts & Imports--if you are looking for Mexican sinks of all kinds, and handmade sinks in general. The height, weight, length, and weight are given on each illustration--this is handy. The sinks have three different finishes: Antique-looking (weathered copper), natural-looking (reddish copper) and clear-looking (smooth brownish). They offer handhammered copper bathroom sinks and copper kitchen sinks, but be warned...these are not cheap. The sinks are round, oval, and round vertical in three different finishes. They offer handmade copper bathtubs ! WOW ! The bathroom copper tubs featured in this website are from Mexican coppersmiths. These Mexican hammered copper bathtubs will add a unique character to your bathroom and your entire place through its unique style. The best way to keep a hammered bath copper tub as new is just wiping up any water residuals left after usage and keeping it as dry as possible. They recommend applying a food grade wax such as beeswax or orange wax every month or depending on its usage as required. If you just want your tub to age and get its own greenish patina, just use it as normal and do not apply the wax. The copper might get dark spots as ages, specially with in areas of hard water. The reddish/oxidated texture is characteristic of natural copper when it is cooled down from red-hot temperature using cold water. These copper tubs are mostly raised with the craftsman's hammer. The techniques used by Santa Clara del Cobre craftsmen is the same one used for several centuries, where no sophisticated tools are used, just the furnace to heat the copper and a hammer to give it the shape. The finish is in a dark brownish color. These particular copper tubs will not rust or become greenish because they are covered by a resin layer to protect it from humidity, just keep it as dry as you can to preserve it longer in the shipping color. www.finecraftsimports.com

Because of the inherent variation in dimensions of handcrafted basins (up to 1/2 “), they do not supply templates. They recommend waiting to receive your actual bowl before making any cuts in a counter top. Native Trails copper bowls and home accents are represented in kitchen and bath showrooms nationwide.

David Bentz writes,"If you wish to preserve the finish so that it does not change over time, we recommend sealing the surface of the finish with oil, wax, or polyurethane industrial clear coat. If left unsealed, the appearance will evolve in response to your unique uses. Our experience has been that about half of our customers prefer the unsealed finish so that they get their own unique look, and the other half want us to get it looking good and seal it so that it doesn't change."
