The best way to keep a hammered bath copper tub as new is just wiping up any water residuals left after usage and keeping it as dry as possible. They recommend applying a food grade wax such as beeswax or orange wax every month or depending on its usage as required. If you just want your tub to age and get its own greenish patina, just use it as normal and do not apply the wax. The copper might get dark spots as ages, specially with in areas of hard water. The reddish/oxidated texture is characteristic of natural copper when it is cooled down from red-hot temperature using cold water. These copper tubs are mostly raised with the craftsman's hammer. The techniques used by Santa Clara del Cobre craftsmen is the same one used for several centuries, where no sophisticated tools are used, just the furnace to heat the copper and a hammer to give it the shape. The finish is in a dark brownish color. Caring for Native Trails copper sinks in brushed nickel, natural, antique and tempered finish is surprisingly easy. For basic cleaning simply use a mild soap and water.
