Beautiful shower surrounds and bathtubs could be made with IceStone® durable surface material. It can be shaped, cut water jet, inlaid, mounted vertically or horizontally. While there are 24 standard colors available, the color palette is infinite. IceStone® surfaces can be made in almost any color because they can add pigment to the background mix, and then select from a variety of sizes and colors of glass. IceStone® durable surfaces are strong like granite, not as porous as marble and heat-resistant like stone. The chemical composition is benign and 99.5% inorganic making it a very safe material from the standpoint of toxicity and fire resistance. The fabrication, installation and maintenance of IceStone® surfaces follow essentially the same process as used with natural stone. Due to its high recycled content and Cradle to Cradle Certification, IceStone® materials can be used towards LEED points. As for durability, Icestone has a concrete based binder so it is subject to staining if you are not very careful. You cannot let highly acid liquids like lemon juice or strong bases like vinegar or ammonia sit on the surface. They will remove the sealant that is applied. Vetrazzo glass kitchen countertopsVetrazzo---Counter Production, in Berkeley, manufactures counter tops called "Vetrazzo" made from recycled glass and cast concrete. The glass used is both post consumer as well as post industrial. Surfaces are polished as with terrazzo. The final product contains 80 to 95% post-consumer recycled content.
Uses. They also can make kitchen backsplashes, counter tops, bathroom counters, fireplace surrounds, shower bases or any other flat surface, such as a table top. The only limitation associated with this product is the custom fabrication. Recycled glass countertops are available in a wide variety of colors - both single color and mixed for the glass, and several color choices for the cement it's embedded in. The size of the glass pieces are also optional. A representative from Counter Production Company conducts on-site measurements and then installs the finished countertop. To clean recycled glass countertops you are suppose to use mild detergent or soap. Recycled glass/cast concrete countertops are as durable as granite but stain more easily and of course, less porous than marble. They also withstand heat, which makes it an excellent choice next to a stove. Recycled glass countertops are comparable in price to marble, granite or Corian. All of the glass used in Vetrazzo is recycled, and it makes up about 85% of the final material by weight. The largest proportion of glass comes from curbside recycling programs. Other glass comes from post industrial usage, windows, dinnerware, stemware, automotive windshields, stained glass, laboratory glass, reclaimed glass from building demolition, and other unusual sources such as decommissioned traffic lights. www.vetrazzo.com

Enviroglass recycled glass counter topsEnviroGLAS Products Inc --EnviroGLAS Terrazzo is made with 100% post consumer recycled glass, bonded with a pigmented epoxy resin by American Terrazzo. This product can be used for countertops. But is also suited to vanities, tables and commercial flooring. The glass used comes from bottles, plate glass, mirrors and car windshields. The manufacturers report that their resin emits no harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). And they say it will be around for about 40 years or the life the building. Countertop Installation is said to be around $85 - $125 /sq ft. www.enviroglasproducts.com

Trinity glass counter topsTrinity Glass--The company that owns Squak Mountain Stone also has a product called Trinity Glass, an alternative to quartz counters that's made with 75% recycled glass. Trinity Glass brings a whole different aesthetic to the table from its companion product, Squak Mountain Stone. Trinity Glass is available with a do-it-yourself-er in mind. Trinity Glass Products contain 75 percent post-industrial and post-consumer recycled glass. Trinity's more natural look, as well as its versatility, are what set it part from other recycled glass surfaces. In addition to slabs for countertops and tabletops, Trinity is available in tiles for wall applications and can be molded into sinks. It can be machined to have a smooth edge and, because of its high glass content, is highly scratch-resistant. Fuez recycled glass counter topsFuezGlass is an enviromentally friendly product that combines cement, fly ash, and curb-side recycled glass. You can choose any of the 35 standard color combos that Fuez offers, or you can create your own. They are flexible in their slabs and aggregates, shapes, colors, and sizes, giving the customer complete creative control in designing their unique Fuez surfaces. Fuez uses up to 80% recycled materials; this includes the 100% glass from recycled bottles, which may have come from your very own recycle bin! No resins are used in the creation of Fuez products, eliminating off-gassing into the homes and businesses where the product is installed. www.fuez.com

Blazestone - by Bedrock Industries. Blazestone tiles are made from 100%recycled glass, most of which is post consumer content.

Environmental Stone - by Environmental Stone Products is manufactured from 100% post-consumer recycled glass. Standard colors and textures are available including looks that resemble natural stone

Decorative Architectural Tiles - by Peak Creations makes tile of 100% recycled post consumer waste glass. Tiles come in blue, green and clear.

Terra Stone - by Terra Green Ceramics. Terra green ceramic tiles are made with 58% recycled aviation glass. Terra Classic and Terra Traffic (slip resistant) are both available in 17 colors and several sizes. Terra Stone is available in four hand-rubbed colors, two sizes and with matching trim.
