We have a lot of customers using AOL and We Love 'Em. AOL is very sneaky about certain things and has a tendency to cut them off during a download, amongst other things (see below). If you use AOL and have any problems with our downloads or site, please come back to this page, there is info here to help you. AOL 24hrs/7 days Tech Support: 1-800-827-6364 also 1-888-346-3704 We get email from AOLers
who download a set and don't get cut off, but when they go to open the scrapbook set, it
is an 'empty' file, then, no matter how many times they try to re-do the download, they
get the same thing each time. This is because, in an effort to save themselves bandwidth
and expense, AOL just feeds you the same 'partial' file over and over from their cache.
This does notusually happen with other Internet service providers. I am including on a new
web page the info that was sent to one of our AOL customers from Tech Support on how to
clear the cache in the AOL user interface. It is a lengthy step by step process. The page
is 'print friendly' so you can easily print it for attempting to follow the process. Click Here to see it. You should contact AOL
and complain that you have to do this, or better yet, cancel your AOL account and ck to
see if EarthLink Unlimited I have found a good
web page with much truth about AOL and several solutions AOL sends downloads by default to a folder called 'Downloads' in your Personal File Cabinet. If You Move the Files after you download, SELECT the file.....Right Click,choose..."COPY"...Go to where you want it to be ..Right click, choose ...."PASTE". IMPORTANT: If you still have trouble with AOL cutting you off during downloads: Some suggestions: Call AOL tech support, 1-800-827-6364 also 1-888-346-3704 Go to the Ziff/Davis Web Site (ZDNet) and download this free mini program that integrates with your AOL browser and (I have read) prevents AOL from cutting you off during downloads: It is called WizOn, free at http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/stories/info/0,,000S2N,.html More Solutions: These mini programs will keep your connection with AOL active for you:
A common complaint is that images often look blurry on AOL's browser, and in many cases they exhibit black bars, distortion, or lines running through graphics. This is because AOL does their own compression of web graphics and serves them from their own servers. An AOL member must deselect the "Use Compressed Graphics" option under their Web Preferences in order to avoid this. You can have a better web experience by doing this: If you came online with AOL you should "minimize" your AOL
browser (click on the left most box in the upper right hand corner of your screen [-]) and
open your Internet Explorer browser (the little blue "e" on your desk top or
tool bar). You will still be online with AOL but rather than use their outdated,
nongraphic friendly browser you will be using a better browser which will allow you much
better access for all your web surfing experiences. Once AOL users have selected not to use AOL's compressed graphics option, they must still clear out their cache in order to see a difference. In their WWW Preferences, they must set their history to "0" pages and then clear the history. Once they've done this, they must delete the files in their Temporary Internet Files folder. AOL offers the following instructions on how to accomplish this:
